Max's is 20 years old!

2026 is a big year for Max’s as we’re turning 20!  I can’t really believe it! To be sure, it has been a ride – sometimes smooth, sometimes bumpy, sometimes twisty and curvy without any idea of what lies just around the bend.  That being said, I wouldn’t have traded the last 20 for anything.  The friendships – with customers, with staff, with artists, with other business partners -- are what gives us the motivation to just work through the potholes (this is Minnesota after all, so a pothole reference in the spring seems imperative!) and mean the world to all of us here at the store.

One thing that has been a constant at Max’s over the years is an exciting lineup of designer trunk shows and 2026 is going to be fabulous! We’re excited to launch our event schedule this week with a visit of our friend Lene Vibe from Copenhagen.  This will be Lene’s 3rd visit to Max’s and her trunk show has already become a customer favorite.  Lene’s design process of what ultimately becomes beautiful, and often sometimes whimsical, nature inspired jewelry is really interesting as she doesn’t sketch any of the pieces before she begins to create them.  In her words, “it seems to all take place in my mind while working”.  Ok, that blows my mind. I have a few of Lene’s pieces in my personal collection and am looking forward to searching for that next piece when she is here this weekend.  I hope that you’ll stop in to explore the magical world of Lene Vibe jewelry.

I love the warmth and personality in this message celebrating Max’s 20th anniversary. The reflections on friendships, creativity, and overcoming challenges really make the store feel like a special community rather than just a business. I think the description of Lene Vibe’s artistic process is fascinating, and it reminds me how creativity can sometimes feel almost magical, much like the imaginative worlds people enjoy in Veck IO. I would definitely be excited to explore the trunk show and see those nature-inspired jewelry pieces in person.

Congrats on reaching 20 years! I like how this reflects not just business success, but the friendships and community built over time with customers, artists, and staff. The Minnesota pothole joke was a nice touch too. Lately I’ve also been spending downtime with SoFlo Wheelie Life, a bike balance game that’s fun to improve at little by little.

The ongoing tradition of hosting designer trunk shows—especially with returning artists like Lene Vibe—shows a commitment to offering unique, Geometry Dash personal, and creative experiences to customers. Lene’s intuitive and unconventional design process reflects the kind of originality and craftsmanship that defines the store’s identity.
