Jewelry > Anna Ruth Henriques
Anna Ruth Henriques, an internationally renowned artist, published author, poet and photographer, can now add ‘jewelry designer’ to her impressive and ever-expanding list of accomplishments. This multicultural phenomenon from Jamaica has had an unconventional love affair with spiders and insects that became the catalyst for her jewelry, in particular, her signature one-of-a-kind hand painted amulets. Born and raised in Kingston of Spanish-Portuguese Jewish, Jamaican and Chinese heritage, Anna spent her early years immersed in the vast yet melding differences of her culture, surrounded by the extraordinary natural beauty of her island home. Discovering at age seven that she shared the same birthday as Leonardo Da Vinci, she knew then that she too would become an artist. As she moved across the world, living in Northern France, Massachusetts, California, Seville, London, Tokyo and ultimately, New York City, Anna translated her unique spiritual and transformative experiences into her art that would later become part of the permanent collection at the Jewish Museum, and El Museo del Barrio in New York City.
