artist statement
Influenced by the strong, simple lines of modern architecture, I strive to design pieces that reveal a subtle, yet classic elegance. I primarily use classic materials like gold, sterling silver and precious gemstones, but will also incorporate more organic materials like coral and stingray leather. My use of colored diamonds adds a unique yet subtle sophistication, while incorporating a splash of color. My goal is to create clean, urbane designs that appeal to the modern-day minimalist.
I first began making jewelry while living in Melbourne, Australia after leaving behind a career in marketing research to pursue my true passion. I continued my informal education in Amsterdam, learning from books and receiving guidance from a local professor of metalsmithing. After graduating from San Francisco’s Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, I completed a two-year apprenticeship with a Master Jeweler where I was able to hone my skills in wax carving, mold making, casting, finishing, fabrication and bench work. I currently work from my own studio in San Francisco, California.
